The Lever Edge is all about water use and taking advantage of the most up-to-date water filtration, conditioning, and activation technologies. So, when we notice trends in the water industry, we tend to sit up and take notice. In the residential water sector in particular, there seems to be a preoccupation with using restricted water nozzles on shower heads. The idea is to reduce the consumption of water by regulating the flow of it at the location where it leaves the distribution pipe, i.e., the shower head. It seems to make sense, right? Reduce the flow of water and you reduce the amount of water consumed.

The reality isn’t so simple. When we think about what we use a shower for, we sometimes take for granted that in order to use the bathing products we enjoy (shampoos, body washes, soaps, etc), we need to have sufficient water to remove those substances from the surface of our skin after we’ve applied them. What this translates into is more time being spent in the shower, using a shower head that is supplying perhaps half of the water that the older shower head was supplying. The question now becomes: is the reduced water cost worth the doubling, tripling, or even more the time I’m spending in the shower?

So, it’s not so simple as just reducing the flow rate of the water at the shower head to reduce water use. Because more time is spent removing the detergents and soaps we use, the actual reduction doesn’t seem to net itself out in all cases. To remedy this situation, it’s worth looking at the condition of your water first and foremost. Why? Because water that isn’t conditioned well won’t be as effective when washing.

Thankfully, the professionals at the LeverEdge know how to condition, filter, and activate water for use in showers, lawn watering, drinking, or other day-to-day use.
