When most people think of ‘solar power’, they probably envision large solar panels that send electricity to a battery or directly to a home.
But, did you know that solar energy can be used to provide hot water for domestic use within your home? It’s true! And, The LeverEdge has the state-of-the-art equipment that makes it all possible.
How It Works
The beauty of solar-powered domestic hot water systems lies in their simplicity. At their essence, they rely on the thermal energy of the sun to heat water before sending it into the distribution system throughout your home.
While this may sound simple, it’s the supporting technology that makes the entire system such a convenient money-saver for homeowners.
In the case of the Nuvis Solar Water Heater, Intelligent automation is the key to outstanding efficiency and self-sufficient operation. Water-filled solar trays absorb heat from the sun and cycle on or off accordingly.
When there is heat to be gained, the circulating pump is activated and cold water is drawn up from the bottom of your special solar storage tank. The water is then heated through your solar collector(s), and returned to the tank as hot water, ready for use. An integrated thermostat and pre-programmed controller allow for worry-free ongoing operation. You don’t have to lift a finger!
The automation cycle continues as long as the sun is available to provide heat to your water. When there is no heat from the sun available, the pump shuts itself off and the collector(s) are automatically isolated to prevent any loss of heat from the tank.
If your family ever needs more hot water than the sun can provide, Nuvis’ back-up heating element automatically takes over, insuring that you will always have all the hot water you need.
