Carrollwood Day School's annual 5th grade class tour of Solar Hydronics CorpSolar Hydronics Corp (SHC) and The LeverEdge hosted their annual educational tour for the 5th grade class of Carrollwood Day School this week.

The tour of Solar Hydronics Corp allowed the students an up-close opportunity to learn about how the sun’s energy can be harnessed for solar electricity, solar hot water, solar pool heating, and solar attic fans for cooling.

The 5th graders observed the entire process of a solar pool collector being fabricated in the world’s most advanced solar pool collector manufacturing facility, from the very beginning as a collection of polypropylene pellets through the many specialized steps it takes to arrive at the completed product of a solar collector panel.

The students are currently studying solar and are just finishing up a project in which each student had to make a solar oven. The final test for their ovens is an attempt to make s’mores in them. We wish them great success!
